For Iris Capital, East End will be one of our greatest legacies. In partnership with our design team, we are proud to create such a significant neighbourhood that is already rejuvenating Newcastle CBD.

Iris Capital: a name that Newcastle knows and trusts.
We are a fully integrated residential development and hospitality group that creates places people love. Since 1995 we have rapidly expanded from Sydney to Newcastle and beyond, delivering premium mixed-use projects in sought-after locations across Australia’s east coast.
These opportunities for growth have come from not only developing incredible properties, but also by building on the communities they are in. Our team is passionate about seeking out sites with full potential, and giving them new meaning and life through smart design and superior quality – drawing people in and creating safe, vibrant precincts.

“Our collaboration process was really fun and fluid. Having similar values and ambitions for East End helped the project be so cohesive and successful.”

SJB, lead architect
and interior design
SJB is a multi-disciplinary practice that embraces architecture, interior design, town planning and urban design.
Our collective goal is to contribute meaningfully and responsibly to the environments in which we all live. We bring to projects a light touch, based on a belief that architecture should put people at the centre and enhance the experience of everyday life.
We are proud to have worked on some of Australia’s most recognisable and innovative projects. Over our nearly 50-year oeuvre, we have built a reputation for bringing enthusiasm, creativity and personal commitment to every project; whether it’s the fine grain interior of a boutique hotel or the planning and revitalisation of an entire neighbourhood.

Durbach Block Jaggers,
architect
Neil Durbach, Camilla Block and David Jaggers are the directors of Durbach Block Jaggers: a permanent team of twelve who have worked together for over twenty years. We are a practice committed to search for the possibilities of architecture itself – its power and poetry; its pleasure and necessity. We work within the parameters of appropriateness and innovation, subscribing to a sensibility of sensitivity, seamlessly integrating landscape and architecture.
We are focused on delivering quality in all projects, with our work recognised as both iconic and innovative through international publications and awards. Most recently Durbach Block Jaggers received multiple awards from Australian Institute of Architects and UDIA NSW for East End’s newly completed Fabric House.

Curious Practice,
architect
Warren Haasnoot and Greg Lee established Curious Practice in 2017 after graduating from the University of Newcastle together and working in local Newcastle practices of varying scales.
Curious Practice is design-oriented with innovation as a core tenet. Our name was a result of the importance we attribute to curiosity in the process of design; to investigate, be inquisitive and be interested. This information discovery enables us to evolve, develop and refine our skills.
As locals to the area, we have an ambition to create meaningful and crafted pieces of architecture – understanding the importance of contributing to the Newcastle community and the opportunity to advance design outcomes from a regional context.
